| opmerkingen | 3-5 July, Hollum, Ameland, Friesland, and 9 July, Ferwerderpolder, Ferwerderadiel, Friesland, first-summer male, photographed (F Sieste, C Martens et al; Birding World 26: 327, 2013; Dutch Birding 35: 258, plate 341, 271, plate 368, 352, plate 448, 2013). The Ameland and Ferwerderadiel records are regarded to refer to the same individual, which had moved c 17 km south to the mainland. This is the fifth year with multiple occurrences, after 1992 (two records), 1999 (three), 2004 (two) and 2011 (two). A first-summer male 'pied wheatear' photographed on Texel, Noord-Holland, on 21 May 2012 showed several features of Pied but some features did not fit this species but neither Eastern Blackeared Wheatear O melanoleuca. It was most likely a hybrid Pied x Eastern Black-eared Wheatear (the two species are known to hybridize) but the CDNA could not conclude this with certainty (see Systematic list of rejected reports).
