opmerkingen | 31 December to 26 January 2014, Kaapse Bossen, Utrechtse Heuvelrug, Utrecht, two, male and female, photographed, videoed (J Griffioen et al). These birds of 2013 were part of a small influx. Previous influxes were in the winters of 1990/91, 1997/98 and 2002/03. Identification of this distinctive crossbill may seem straightforward but is complicated by the occurrence of wing-barred Red Crossbills L curvirostra (so-called 'rubrifasciata' type), which may be of hybrid origin (cf Hinchon 2014, Roselaar 2014). The species will no longer be considered from 1 January 2015 but the CDNA still welcomes reports from before this date. The identification of a juvenile collected at Den Helder, Noord-Holland, on 2 September 1990 was questioned by Roselaar (2014), based on measurements; therefore, this record will be reviewed.
