The bird was discovered at an inland locality foraging at a great distance and in poor light conditions. Therefore, the identification was not clinched before the next day during much better viewing conditions. Its small size, lack of primary projection, strong double 'tram-lines' on the upperparts, greenish-yellow legs, dark forehead and toes projecting beyond the tail in flight excluded Least Sandpiper C minutilla. It was the sixth for north-western Europe and attracted quite a lot of birders from abroad. Annual Report 2009.
