opmerkingen | 9-10 May, De Putten, Camperduin, Bergen, Noord-Holland, male, photographed (B Bos, S Lagerveld, R E Brouwer). This bird was wearing a small metal ring; the ring could not be read. Normally, this would be enough reason to reject the record. In this case, however, the CDNA decided to give this bird the benefit of the doubt because the type of ring could fit a wild bird ringed in North America and because Blue-winged Teal is the Nearctic duck species of which most ringing recoveries (10+) of genuine vagrants in Europe are known (cf Snow & Perrins 1998).
